About Me

Welcome to Read to Me, your guide through the immersive world of children’s literature.

I have always deeply loved reading.  As an only child, books were often my companions.  I loved losing myself in stories. I graduated from USC with a BA in English and developed an even deeper respect for literature.  I now have two daughters, a second-grade avid reader, and a preschooler who is just trying to keep up with her sister.

From Day One (Well, let’s be realistic, it was probably sometime in month one), we read to our kids every single night.  I didn’t know much about children’s books, and we pulled from the small collection we had received as gifts. After fully memorizing Goodnight Moon and the few other books we had, I started to get bored.  That’s when I realized I was going to be reading these books over and over again for years, and I started looking for books that I could enjoy too!

Now my children absolutely devour books.  We’ve managed to instill in them a love of reading, and I believe it came from having the right content available to them, and my enthusiasm for reading to them because I enjoy what I’m reading.  It’s a great big world of books out there and not all of them are created equal.  I often hear parents lament that their children hate to read – I want to help your children love it!

I created this guide to help you wade through the sea of children’s books available.  It’s overwhelming to walk into a book store or a library and have no idea where to start.  Are you looking for high interest contact for certain ages or reading levels? This guide will help you find what you need and avoid what you don’t.

If you ever need a hand or have ay questions, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out.

All the best,
